Rouge Events has announced that annual revenue has doubled in the last twelve months to more than £5million as the agency celebrates 10 years of operation.

2011 has been a strong year for live events and festivals for Rouge, notably the launch of new food and music festival, Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival, with the inaugural event in July attracting 23,000 attendees and already winning awards. Other large scale events included twin festivals for Sky in London and Edinburgh, nationally touring experiential campaigns for Cartoon Network and Sky, and events for longstanding clients Sainsbury’s and Nissan, as well as new client wins such as Microsoft’s gaming division Lionhead Studios.

Nathan Homan, Creative Director and co-founder of Rouge was positive about the year ahead too: “We launched ten years ago at what seemed like the most inauspicious moment, in the wake of September 11th, so we learnt pretty quickly not to get swept away by tides of negativity and to hold our nerve in difficult times.

Ten years on and we are all once again facing lean years ahead, but at Rouge we believe that straightened times simply call for creative thinking. Most events have, at their core, a form of entertainment, and as state funding retracts and the public have less money in their pockets, those brands that do perform well are incredibly well-placed to step in, to create and support exciting and credible projects.

But then, combining accountability and creativity has always been our approach – there’s never been such a thing as a client who didn’t expect value for money or demonstrable ROI. Which is possibly why we have smashed our targets this year and have more confirmed business for the next two years than we have ever had before.”

Rouge is on course to increase the number of live events produced in 2012 and is currently finalising an agreement for a series of live entertainment concepts across next summer and 2013.
