Rouge Events take Skyfest regional

Rouge has been appointed to deliver Skyfest for the fourth year - this year the festival is going regional with three new events around the UK.

Rouge Events is working with Sky for the fourth year to deliver Skyfest, Sky’s annual employee recognition event. This year Skyfest is expanding to include three new regional festivals: Skyfest Metro in Leeds and Skyfest Local in Birmingham and Bristol, in addition to the established Skyfest Big Weekend in London and Edinburgh. The five events will take place across July and August of this summer and more than 30,000 Sky people, their friends and families are expected to attend.

Rouge is again responsible for the design and delivery of all the Skyfest events - a massive logistical task with five grass fields to transform into full working festival sites with toilets, trackway, fencing and associated structural works including rain cover for up to 10,000 people at any time. The total production period will last just over six weeks - the first events took place in London over the weekend at the Grasshoppers RFC in Osterley.

New venues have been sourced for the other locations: Hopetoun House in South Queensferry, Wellington Place in Leeds, The Pavillion, Moor Lane, Birmingham and Tockington Manor School in Bristol. The additional events will provide an opportunity for a further 6,000 people to attend this summer.

Rouge Events Creative Director, Nathan Homan said “We’re thrilled to have been appointed to deliver Skyfest again, each year the event gets bigger and better and offers a fantastic variety of activities and entertainment for all ages. There have certainly been additional challenges this year, producing a series of events that run over the same period as the Olympics. We started planning and securing suppliers much earlier and have been working hard to ensure we still get the best possible value and quality in what will be an exceptionally busy summer.”

Sky’s Director of Internal Communications, Nick Green said “It’s great to be working with Rouge again. Every year we’re committed to rewarding our people with a great event and Rouge has been instrumental in ensuring that Skyfest gets better every year.”

The entertainment will include an outstanding line-up of music on the main stage and for the first time, a second bandstand stage has been added. This year’s headlining acts will include Example, DJ Fresh, Stooshe, The Cribs, Pixie Lott and The Pigeon Detectives.

As in previous years much of the entertainment and interactive content areas will be sponsored by Sky’s channels and channel partners. A major focus for Rouge has been designing exciting and engaging activities for these brands to integrate them into the Skyfest experience. The UKTV tent will host everything from meeting meerkats with Eden to decorating cookies with the Good Food channel. Sky Movies will be installing a green screen experience. E! Entertainment Television will be spoiling guests with make-overs inspired by the glamorous stars of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Festival goers can recreate iconic MGM movie scenes in the MGM HD flipbook booth or flag down the Comedy Central cab to pose for a pic with their friends and family. There’ll be heaps on for the kids with the Boomerang petting zoo and craft zone, Animal Planet’s Hammer Time shark ride, Nat Geo Wild Jungle Run, the Big Dig with HISTORY and all-time favourite SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom from Nickelodeon.
